How to Spot Hidden Storm Damage After High Winds
Storm damage is not always a missing tile visible from the pavement. A lifted flashing, loosened edge or shifted ridge detail may only become apparent during later rain. Changes inside the property can be a useful early warning.
After high winds
- Check safely for new debris, loose guttering or displaced coverings.
- Look for fresh ceiling marks during subsequent rainfall.
- Arrange inspection if unusual movement or repeated leaks appear.
Keep away from hanging or unstable materials and do not climb onto the roof to search for hidden damage.
Keep a useful maintenance record
A few dated photographs and notes about rainfall or wind can help show whether a defect is new, recurring or changing. Record earlier repairs and any work by other trades. Observations should be made from safe positions; use professional access for high-level inspection. Ask for a prioritised scope so immediate hazards and planned maintenance can be distinguished.
