Signs Your Tiled Roof Needs Repair or Replacement
A tiled roof may need a local repair when a few units are damaged, but broader failure can involve fixings, battens or underlay. The extent of deterioration should determine the scope. Age by itself is not a reliable replacement test.
Compare isolated and widespread symptoms
- One damaged tile after impact is different from repeated slipping across a slope.
- Recurring leaks can suggest connected defects beneath the covering.
- Widespread support failure may make repeated local repairs poor value.
Ask for a condition-based recommendation that identifies which parts can remain and which need renewal.
Check the complete roof specification
The quotation should identify the tile product, supporting layers and fixing arrangement, with suitable ridge, hip and verge details. Changes in tile weight or pitch suitability should be resolved before ordering. Where existing tiles remain, confirm that replacements are compatible rather than merely a similar colour. Ask for completion photographs of details that are difficult to inspect later.
