Can I Repair My Roof?
Many roof defects can be repaired without replacing the whole roof. The key question is whether the surrounding materials and fixings are still dependable. A repair should correct the source of water entry and connect properly to the existing roof.
When a local repair is appropriate
- A small number of broken tiles can often be replaced with compatible units.
- An isolated flashing defect may be corrected without stripping a whole slope.
- A sound flat roof may accept a system-compatible repair to a local puncture.
Ask what the repair covers, what remains untouched and whether any nearby defects could cause another leak.
What a useful repair quotation includes
The proposal should name the defect, the area being repaired and the materials that will connect to the existing roof. Ask whether surrounding coverings and concealed layers are assumed to be sound or have been inspected. If opening the roof reveals more damage, agree how photographs, approval and any price change will be handled before additional work begins.
