How to Maintain Your GRP Roof for Maximum Durability
Maintaining GRP is about protecting the laminate and keeping drainage working. Abrasive cleaning or unsuitable coatings can create problems. Before treating discoloration or surface wear, identify the installed system and follow its maintenance guidance.
Protect the finish
- Remove debris by a method appropriate to the roof and safe access.
- Keep sharp items and unprotected equipment off the surface.
- Have cracks, trim movement or local damage inspected.
Ask whether a repair or finish renewal is needed; do not assume every change in colour means the roof has failed.
Preparation and handover matter
Ask the installer to identify the GRP system, its compatible substrate and the proposed treatment of deck joints, corners and trims. Suitable conditions are needed during application. At completion, retain the product details and photographs, and establish how the roof should be maintained and protected if another contractor needs access.
